HOW USEFUL ARE GUIDEBOOKS TO TRAVELLERS TODAY?
In the past, and before technology caame in with development, tourists used to use guidebooks or travel guides when they visited foreign cities and countries for getting different useful information about those new places they were visiting. In spite of that and because of technology development, tourists don't find guidebookds that useful anymore.
First of all, and as I said in the opening, because of technology development people don't find guidebooks useful and basically tourists don't use them anymore. Why is that? I believe that it is'nt practical because carrying a piece of paper or a book with all of your bags and having to open and check it everytime you want or need something is not helpful. But what really doesn't make it practical anymore, are mobile phones and Internet, because wherever you are, you can quickly get a map or check a rating of a hotel at any time just by tyiping its name on your phone.
Finally, guidebooks can easily be lost or forgotten anywhere and they can break or become dirty easily. However, mobile phones with a lot more information than a travel guide and pecause people take a lot of care of them, cannot get lost that easily.
In conclusion, I think that guidebooks aren't usefu and practical for travellers today because technology has stepped forward.
